Listening to Spanish podcasts are another great supplement to go along with your main language learning course. In this SpanishPod101 review I am going to explain why, if you are like me and don’t have an available person to speak Spanish with you 24/7, listening to podcasts is a great alternative.

While textbooks and vocabulary cards are a great start you need to eventually immerse yourself in audio. By doing this you will begin to hear and begin to pick up on the nuances of Spanish as it is spoken everyday.

Now don’t get me wrong, listening to Spanish music and watching Spanish movies is a great and entertaining resource for intermediate speakers because they are using “passive” listening to take in words and sentences they are already aware of.

However, for beginners, I first recommend listening to podcasts. The reason is because these learning podcasts give you the audio that you need but are designed in a way you can learn from. As a result, I like to think of the use of podcasts as “active” listening. You are actively engaging your brain in audible learning.

The best part of Spanish101 podcasts is they are truly an on-the-go supplement for an on-the-go lifestyle. Whether you are heading to work, school, going, for a walk, or even simply relaxing you can literally listen to SpanishPod101’s podcasts anywhere, anytime.

Here are some of the best advantages of using the SpanishPod101 app:

  • Learn at your own speed and on your own time
  • Expand your vocabulary of your new language
  • Understand how combinations of words are being used in everyday conversations
  • Discover many new interesting topics
  • Hear native speakers speaking everyday spoken Spanish

The thing I like most about SpanishPod101 is how they have podcasts tailored for learners ranging from beginners to intermediate all the way to advanced.

They have several hosts from different parts of Latin America so you can learn how native speakers speak in different regions.

For a beginner like me, it really helps that the hosts repeat the dialogues several times so I can learn from repeated exposure to the material. Also, I have to say that the episodes are extremely enjoyable covering numerous interesting topics.

SpanishPod101 takes a fresh approach to language learning by doing away with “dry” and “out-of-date” textbook techniques and replaces them with culturally relevant lessons that actually make learning fun.

If you are an on-the-go person and are looking for some additional material I highly recommend using the SpanishPod101 app as a supplement to go along with your main language learning course.
